Sam Burgess’s homebuilt custom. Sam Burgess’s homebuilt 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew was an effort to take an otherwise ordinary pickup truck and turn it into a custom rig. A fan of body-dropped crew cabs, Burgess decided to build a SuperCrew to fit his personality and his tastes. But he didn’t want to sacrifice air conditioning or towing capabilities.

Burgess represented England at the 2010 Four Nations tournament. In the first game of the 2011 NRL season, he injured his shoulder and needed surgery. He missed more than a month of action and then he suffered another injury – this time to his ankle.

He was the first player to win the award since Ron Coote in 1971.
